Your wardrobe is intimate data. This page explains exactly what Continue collects, why, where it lives, and how to make it disappear.
01Who we are
Continue Labs BV ("Continue", "we") is the data controller for the Continue browser extension, mobile apps and website at continue-fashion.com. We are registered at Nationalestraat 28, 2000 Antwerp, Belgium (VAT BE 0784.221.019).
Our Data Protection Officer can be reached at [email protected]. You always have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be) or your local supervisory authority.
02What we collect
- Account data — email address, display name, password hash, subscription tier, and the country you selected for pricing.
- Wardrobe data — photographs of garments you add, plus derived attributes (category, colour family, fabric, silhouette, season, brand where recognised), wear logs, outfit ratings and packing lists.
- Retailer import data — when you connect the browser extension, the order lines you explicitly approve for import. We never read your inbox in bulk and we do not store payment details, card numbers or delivery addresses.
- Product analytics — pseudonymised events describing feature use (for example "outfit generated", "look saved"), device type, app version and coarse region. Never the contents of a garment photograph.
- Support correspondence — anything you send us by email or in-app chat.
03Why we use it, and our legal basis
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6) |
|---|---|---|
| Running your wardrobe and generating outfits | Account, wardrobe | Contract, Art. 6(1)(b) |
| Improving styling quality across the service | Aggregated, pseudonymised attributes | Legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Training styling models on your photographs | Wardrobe imagery | Consent, Art. 6(1)(a) — off by default |
| Billing, tax and fraud prevention | Account, transaction metadata | Legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(c) |
| Newsletter and product updates | Email address | Consent, Art. 6(1)(a) |
We do not carry out automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects. Outfit recommendations are suggestions about clothes; you remain in charge of getting dressed.
04On-device processing
Where your hardware supports it (iOS 16+, Android 11+ with a compatible NPU, and desktop Chrome with WebGPU enabled), garment segmentation and attribute tagging run locally. In that case the original photograph is uploaded only if you have wardrobe sync switched on, and the model output — a short list of labels — is what synchronises between your devices.
You can verify what leaves your device at any time from Settings → Data → Sync log, which lists every payload sent in the last 90 days.
05What we never do
- We do not sell, rent or broker wardrobe data, and we never will. This is a contractual commitment in our Terms, not only a policy statement.
- We do not build advertising audiences or share identifiers with ad networks.
- We do not let sponsored placements influence the outfit generator. Sponsored items are labelled and are excluded from gap analysis scoring.
- We do not use your photographs to train models for other members unless you explicitly opt in, and opting out later removes your contributions from the next training run.
07How long we keep it
- Active accounts — for as long as the account exists.
- Deleted wardrobes — removed from production within 24 hours and from encrypted backups within 30 days.
- Support email — 24 months.
- Invoices and tax records — 7 years, as Belgian law requires.
- Pseudonymised analytics — 14 months, then aggregated beyond re-identification.
08Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interest. Most of these are self-service:
- Export — Settings → Data → Export produces CSV and JSON including wear history and cost-per-wear.
- Erasure — Settings → Data → Delete everything. Two taps, no retention call, no email loop.
- Consent — model-training consent and marketing consent each have their own switch and can be withdrawn at any time.
Anything you cannot do yourself, ask [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.
09Children
Continue is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, write to [email protected] and we will remove it.
10Changes to this policy
Material changes are announced in-app and by email at least 14 days before they take effect, with a plain-language summary of what changed. Previous versions stay available on request.
